Penang food that embarrasses Singapore's. Langkawi beaches at a third of Phuket's price. Orangutans in Borneo. And KL, which is quietly one of the best food cities on earth.
Peninsula Malaysia is city (KL) + food (Penang) + beach (Langkawi). Borneo is a separate adventure — rainforest, orangutans, reef diving, and some of the finest resorts in Asia. Don't confuse the two. We'll tell you which suits your trip.

Langkawi → KL → AU. Touch down mid-morning.
Australians get 90 days visa-free on arrival. MDAC arrival card online 3 days before — we'll send the link.

Ringgit. Very good value — meals $5–$15 AUD, a beer $5. Card works in hotels & malls, cash for hawkers & markets.
Muslim-majority. Dress modestly for mosques (we provide robes). Alcohol available but pricier. Ramadan means restaurants quieter during the day but hawker night markets go off.
Tap water — no. Food hygiene is very high (Penang especially). Mosquito repellent for Borneo evenings.
Not customary. Round up, or 5% at nice restaurants. Drivers & guides appreciate $5 USD/day.
"KL surprised us — we thought it was a stopover city, ended up wishing we'd booked 4 nights not 2. Penang food was the best of our whole 3-week Asia trip. Langkawi quiet and beautiful."
"Borneo wildlife trip with our teenager. Saw orangutans on day one. Guide at Kinabatangan was incredible — spotted a wild clouded leopard the night we were there. Gaya Island Resort was the cherry on top."
"Did Legoland + Langkawi with 3 kids aged 6–11. Best family holiday we've done. The internal flight crew even found Lego stickers for the kids. Proper Malaysian hospitality."
Yes but plan 14+ nights. They're very different products. Most Aussies do Peninsula first, come back a year later for Borneo. We'll tell you honestly which suits your available time.
Quieter, cleaner beaches, cheaper food & drink, less developed, better for switch-off. Phuket has more nightlife & day-trip variety. Different holidays — tell us your priorities.
For street food: Penang wins, hands down. For skyline glamour: Singapore. For heritage & grit: Penang. We frequently build itineraries that include both.
The real thing, if you book right. Sepilok is a rehab centre (legit). Kinabatangan river lodges put you amid genuinely wild orangutans, proboscis monkeys, and pygmy elephants. We only use operators with proper conservation credentials.
Extremely. English widely spoken. Food is flavourful but mild at request. Legoland, waterparks, beaches, cable cars, easy flights. One of our top family destinations.
Ideal combo — 30-min flight KL ↔ SIN, or a private car to Legoland in 90 minutes. Our "Singapore + Malaysia" combo is our single most-booked family itinerary.
Peninsula or Borneo, city or beach, family or couples — we'll come back within 24 hours with two tailored itineraries and transparent pricing.
